About Us

At The Tribune, we believe unequivocally in freedom of speech. Our goal is twofold: to provide the Tufts community with diverse viewpoints on important issues and to cover news at Tufts in a nonpartisan, factual manner. The Tribune takes no institutional position besides our support of free speech.

Everything we publish aligns with Tufts’ official statement on Free Expression, which promises students “a right to express their views on campus, local, national, and international topics” even “if that may create discomfort at times.” We do not seek to cause controversy, only to platform our community’s diverse viewpoints and conduct our reporting in a thorough, fair manner.

Tufts was founded with a strong belief in creating a community that values differences of opinion. The Tribune embodies that belief.

The Tribune is dedicated to platforming a range of different viewpoints and opinions. There is tremendous value in hearing the arguments of those we agree with and those we disagree with. As John Stuart Mill writes, “If the opinion is right, [we]are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth; if wrong, [we] lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth produced by its collision with error.”
